50th anniversary lecture by Dr. Jackie Skipper, Geotechnical Consulting Group & GSL William Smith Medal Winner.

Abstract:

The highly variable Paleocene Lambeth Group is today understood far better than even 25 years ago. Boreholes and engineering exposures for major civil engineering projects have provided clarification into how these sediments were formed, what engineering hazards they can cause and how we can manage these if we have a good understanding of the ground.
